NEW DELHI — The organizing committee of the International Festival of Rivers (IFOR) and the Sanatani Ganga Foundation (SGF) are honored to announce that Mr. Sato Koji, Director General of the Japan Foundation, New Delhi, has formally accepted an invitation to participate as a Distinguished Guest at the upcoming IFOR Global Conclave. The event is scheduled to take place on May 16, 2026, at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.
Mr. Sato’s acceptance represents a monumental step forward in strengthening the cultural and diplomatic ties between India and Japan. As a veteran diplomat and a dedicated proponent of Indo-Japanese relations, his presence underscores a shared commitment to heritage, sustainability, and the profound civilizational exchange that defines the “Silk Route of Water.”
A Fusion of Art and Diplomacy
Since assuming his role in early 2021, Mr. Sato has been a pivotal figure in promoting Japanese language and culture across South Asia. Beyond his official capacity, he has gained widespread recognition for his unique approach to cultural diplomacy, most notably through the “J-Hind” (Jai-Hind) musical band. As the band’s lead singer, Mr. Sato blends Hindustani classical training with popular Indian music, creating a vibrant bridge between the youth of both nations.

Artistic Collaboration: The Conclave will explore new avenues for Indo-Japanese engagement through music, dance, and visual arts.
International Goodwill: This collaboration fosters a spirit of global cooperation, linking the sacred waters of the Ganga with the rich cultural heritage of Japan.
“We are delighted to welcome Mr. Sato Koji to the IFOR platform,” stated the IFOR organizing committee. “His work perfectly mirrors our vision of using culture as a catalyst for environmental stewardship.
